PILATES WITH SARAH

Classes with Pilates instructor Sarah Espenscheid focus on lengthening, strength, and mobility. No matter your fitness level, this class is designed to make your muscles feel strong and loose by the end.

YOGA WITH TARA

Private yoga is designed for one or two individuals who have a specific goal or focus they would like to achieve. This class is tailored to the individual and will include tips and personalized feedback. It is a breath-led movement with stress-relieving benefits, and without a spiritual element. If you’re going to do a 2-person private session, you must have the same goal or focus you want to achieve.

Private group yoga is designed for a group that wants a yoga class with their friends! Yoga is a fun and relaxing time for a Bachelorette party, a girls’ day out, or during your vacation in the mountains. This is an instructor-led class focusing on breath with movement and is appropriate for beginners or those with no yoga experience. It is not spiritually based; rather, it is stress-relieving and will leave your body and mind feeling refreshed and happy!

ABOUT VILLAGE PILATES OWNER SARAH ESPENSCHEID

Sarah was born and raised in a small, rural town about 40 minutes north of Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from Riverside Beaver County High School in 2012 and with a BA in Communication from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA in 2016. Sarah married her husband Dustin in May 2016 and moved to Nashville, TN ten months later. While she was pursuing her passion of singing and songwriting, Sarah also jumped into the fitness community as a means to make fast friends. She attended weekly boxing, yoga, Pilates, and barre classes and went on group hikes. She caught a spark for health and fitness and began co-teaching a variety of fitness classes within her fitness community. Pilates was a favorite style of exercise for her since she was in high school, so she knew that would be her instructing focus.

Things changed when she had her first child. With Sarah’s and Dustin’s families living ten hours away, she felt overwhelmed and alone in her adjustment to new motherhood. Attending fitness classes and group meet-ups became extremely difficult without having a “village” to support her. She continued working out at home and attended occasional fitness classes as she could, but she suffered from the mental and emotional tolls of feeling alone and not recognizing her new self as a mom. Sarah had her second child in 2020 after the pandemic hit, and that left her feeling more isolated than ever before. She had a moment of divine clarity when she realized a village wasn’t going to come to her—she had to make a village for herself.

Once businesses and childcare at church reopened, Sarah set her intention to find a new community. She volunteered in her church’s kids ministry, hosted a mom’s Bible study from her home, worked for a small business on Main Street in Franklin, TN, and went back to the gym and weekly fitness classes. She found herself thriving again and welcomed her third child in 2022.

A year later, Sarah’s husband was informed of some changes his work was making. His work schedule would change drastically if he stayed in his position, requiring him to sacrifice too much time at home with their family. They felt it was time to close their seven year long chapter in Tennessee.

With Sarah’s family still residing in the Pittsburgh area and Dustin’s family living in Lynchburg, VA, they chose to relocate to a middle point between families. They are very happy to have landed in Bruceton Mills, WV and to raise their children in a rural setting closer to their parents. Sarah is due with baby number four in April, and, once again, finds herself in a new state with a growing family.

This time, Sarah is expanding her vision, not only to build a village for herself, but to build a village in Bruceton like the one she desperately needed many years ago. VILLAGE PILATES is a combination of her passions for physical fitness, community building, and her underlying drive to make a positive difference in the lives around her.
